Located at Fort Worth Texas Motor Speedway has become one of the most popular race track on the NASCAR circuit becoming the one of the fastest tracks in the country. The track has become known as "The Great American Speedway" and plays host to two major NASCAR events each year, the Samsung Mobile 500 and the "Chase for the Sprint Cup" event - the AAA Texas 500. The facility has a seating capacity of an astounding almost 200,000 and often tickets are sold out so it is recommended that fans buy their tickets for the weekend event well in advance.

The Quad-oval is 1.5 miles long with a surface of asphalt and has four turns each having 24 degrees of banking. The dogleg has banking of 5 degrees and the backstretch also has 5 degrees of banking The track is considered to be very fast and can produce speeds of up to 200 mph that makes for very exhilarating action. The record for the qualifying lap is presently set at 196.235 mph, set by Brian Vickers in 2006. The facility is famous for the cowboy hats that it gives to the winners. Texas Motor Speedway also hosts other NASCAR events including the Nationwide Series and the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series together with the IZOD IndyCar Series. Merchandise: driver and NASCAR merchandise haulers on-site in the Midway, located on the outside of the front stretch grandstands. Scanners: available for rent on-site.

Autographs

Check local newspapers, TV and the Texas Motor Speedway website for driver appearances; drivers rarely available on race day.

Location

Getting there: Take I-35W north of downtown Fort Worth to State Route 114. From Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport: Take north exit, then west on State Route 114 to speedway. (Note: From Dallas this way, State Route 114 tends to get backed up.) • Suggested race-day route: Travel north from Dallas on I-35E to Denton. At the junction of I-35E and I-35W, turn south on I-35W. Drive to Dale Earnhardt Way or State Route 114; exit right to speedway.
