“Cudzter” – 1970 Plymouth Barracuda built by Kreations Auto Body

1970 Plymouth Barracuda Targa

This is a 1970 Plymouth Barracuda build for Ted Hellard by Kevin Bradley of Kreations Auto Body. The car that they bought as the basis of the project was a long way from the show stopper you see now. It was acquired for $14,000 and was in a fairly poor state but after 16 months of hard work and $340,000 spent on it the car it was finished and made it debut appearance at the 2005 SEMA show.

The grill has been hand built by Kreations using aero-tubing and closely resembles the original grille and the bumper was reworked to move it in closer to the body work. Under the bumper their have been fog lights fitted which involved the valance being extended by a couple of inches to give the required space.

In order to give this car the power it deserves Kreations chose to fit a stock Mopar Performance 528 crate Hemi fitted with Indy Cylinder heads which were modified to allow a different injector system to be fitted, delivering around 625 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque. All this power is transferred to the back wheels using a 727 automatic transmission from TCI on the end of the transmission is a Gear Vendors overdrive unit. In order to fit the engine into the existing engine compartment the firewall, cowl and bonnet had to be heavily modified or created from scratch.

Those wheels are a bespoke creation and were custom milled specifically for this car. The sizes are 19×8 at the front and 20×10 at the rear and they are wrapped in Toyo tires.

As you would expect the interior has also been heavily modified with Kreations manufacturing most of it. The seats were reupholstered by McFairland Custom Upholstery in light taupe leather. The headliner is also covered in leather but uses a custom fiberglass section to maintain the shape. The dashboard has been manufactured by Kreations too and fitted with Auto Meter gauges.
