1949 Mercury Custom Coupe built by Bill Dugan

1949 Mercury Coupe

This Mercury was build back in 2001 by Bill Dugan to a very high standard. He carried out numerous modifications to the car including smoothing the bonnet and most noticeably removing the door pillars. The other modifications that were performed were frenching the headlights and radio antennas, dual spotlights, chrome lakes pipes, fully skirted rear fenders, and dual exhaust outlets.

The suspension has also been lowered and to accentuate that purple neon lights have been fitted underneath to create the illusion of the car hovering as it travels along.

The car has a set of steel wheels with white wall tires and beautiful smooth chrome hub-caps which complete the perfect 50′s feel of this car.

Within the smooth engine bay is a 350 ci Corvette engine topped by chrome and billet accessories, as well as a pair of polished Weber sidedraft carburetors and a custom-built intake manifold. The engine is mated to a Turbo Hydra-Matic 400 transmission and a Traction-Lok rear axle from a 1973 Lincoln transfers the power to the road. The suspension and ride height is adjusted from within the car using Air-Ride suspension components.
