The Long Beach Motorama is a car show that is steeped in tradition and has been running for 32 years now with the first car show being held in the Long Beach Arena. The show pays tribute to the role that the Renegrads Car Club had in forming the modern car shows we see today. The club was creating some jaw dropping modified cars between 1950 through to 1957 and holding shows and events on high school football fields. This new craze grew into the show being held in Long Beach Municipal Auditorium from 1958-1960. This was the “Premiere” Kustoms show on the West Coast back then, with the National Roadster Show (Oakland) being the equivalent for hot rods to the North.

Northeast Street Rod Nationals : Source bobvt on Flickr
Here is a superb collection of photos taken by bobvt on Flickr at the Northeast Street Rod Nationals held on 23rd September until 25th September.
The show has been running since 1994 and has an agenda that has been packed with more than enough activities to pack into the 3 days. There were at least 1,500 street rods and a large number of commercial exhibitors selling and displaying their wares, vintage parts swap meet, arts and crafts show, games and entertainment.

These pictures were taken by itsrogers49 at the 6th Return to Kingdon event held at Kingdon Airport in California. The event is a 2 day event featuring music, drag racing, a car show and much more.
The Kingdon Airport was originally built as a training facility in the early forties but it was converted to the Kingdon Drag Strip in the fifties. This was an idea championed by a local police officer to keep illegal street racing off the streets and provide a safer environment. In the seventies it was converted back to an operational airport and is still used today for general aviation and training.
This year’s event helped to support the National Guard’s canned food drive.

Here are some pictures that I found on Flickr that belonging to primespot1 and were taken at the 2011 Langely Good-Times Cruise-In on the 10th September.
The event has gone from strength to strength starting in 1997 with a very respectable 430 registered vehicles to 1,532 vehicles in 2002 through to the massive event you see today in these pictures.
The proceeds from the event went towards the Langley Stroke Recovery, Valley Therapeutic Equestrian Assoc. and Langley Memorial Hospital Auxiliary which are all local charities.

These are pictures from this year’s Greaserama, held on 3rd/4th September, that were taken by Meetzorp on Flickr. Greaserama was started in 2001 as an informal car show that coincided with a 2 day punk, surf and rockabilly show in Kansas City.
The show was started with the aim of being a grass-roots type affair without the large budget commonly associated with other popular shows. The show has been very successful and is now in its 10th year attracting some great looking rides as you can see below.

Here are a few pictures from the Scavengers Rockabilly Roustabout held on Saturday 3rd September in Kent in the UK. This is the 3rd annual show that has taken place so far and was a great success.

The pictures you see on this page were taken by VoodooVane on Flickr at the 2011 Vintiques Car Show held at State Fair Park, Yakima, WA on the first weekend in August. The show is run by the Vintiques Car Club who have members all of the US and was created 25 years ago. It began in 1974 with a handful of energetic street rod enthusiasts who have grown to an organization of numerous families and generations, who stress street rod safety; promote family participation in club activities; and generously donate time and money to community needs.
The event normally attracts over 1,000 street rods and approximately 15,000 people usually attend to see the cars and take part in the other attractions taking place.

The Hot Rod Hayride looks like another great turn out this year and was held on 29th – 31st July at the Bisley Pavilion, Surrey in the UK. This is the 7th year of the event and saw participants arriving from all over Europe and the organizers have said on their website that this was the best year so far.
The event featured many things besides the amazing cars and bikes such as music, racing, burlesque, the wall of death, the stalls and the flea market.

Here are some pictures from the Street Rod Nationals East Plus event held on June 3rd, 4th, 5th, 2011 at York Expo Center in Pennsylvania. If you live as far away from Pennsylvania as I do and couldn’t make it there then you will probably feel as jealous as I do!

Below is a nice video of a lot of the rides from the show as they leave the event.
This year’s Bug Jam was held on 23rd July 2011 and failed to disappoint as usual. Bug Jam is one of the largest UK based VW events and held at Santa Pod Raceway. This was Bug Jam’s 25th anniversary and the main features of the show are the Show and Shine, Music and Drag Racing on the Santa Pod Drag Strip.

I haven’t seen a windscreen modified like the camper below on a bay window camper like the one shown below. If you click on the picture you’ll see it has been modified to pop-out like one you would normally find on a split camper. I love the bumpers too – they’re pretty cool.
